Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most influential people in the history of the United States. He stood up for many things, but is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil disobedience. His movement helped stop segregation, and the mistreatment of black people.

King’s actions in history have not only changed the ways in which black people
are treated, but how people of all colors are treated here in the United
States. Martin Luther King Jr. was and is an inspiration to many people of all
races, and his dream was heard around the world.
